Η αδικία στις Χρυσές Σφαίρες δεν συνεχίστηκε ευτυχώς και στα Όσκαρ. Ο Γιώργος Λάνθιμος δεν έμεινε να βλέπει μόνο τις πρωταγωνίστριες του να παίρνουν υποψηφιότητα. Για πρώτη φορά έχει κι αυτός τη δική του και πιστοποιεί ότι εδώ και καιρό και για τα επόμενα πολλά χρόνια θα βρίσκεται στην κατηγορία των «μεγάλων».
Το The Favourite είναι η κυρίαρχη ταινία της φετινής χρονιάς με δέκα υποψηφιότητες, με τις μισές εξ αυτών να το φέρνουν στη θέση του favourite για να πάρει και το βραβείο. Δηλαδή η Olivia Colman δεν υπάρχει περίπτωση να χάσει, ούτε από την εξαιρετική Glenn Close. Rachel Weisz και Emma Stone θα έχουν δυνατό αντίπαλο την Regina King, αλλά μία από τις δύο θα το πάρει.
Άλλοι λόγοι για να νιώθουμε «δικαιωμένοι» εδώ στο Menshouse είναι οι 5 υποψηφιότητες για το Green Book με Mahershala Ali και Viggo Mortensen να είναι ισχυρά φαβορί, αν και ο δεύτερος θα αντιμετωπίσει τον Κρίστιαν Μπέιλ.
