Μια αποκλειστικά γυναικεία βραδιά. Αυτό ήταν οι Χρυσές Σφαίρες 2018. Η στιγμή που κάθε γυναίκα θέλησε να ενώσει τη φωνή της με τις άλλες και να φωνάξουν όλες μαζί απέναντι σε αυτούς που τόσα χρόνια τις καταπίεζαν με κάθε πιθανό τρόπο. Οι Χρυσές Σφαίρες ήταν η βραδιά που το Χόλιγουντ έθαψε τον παλιό του εαυτό. Η βραδιά που έδωσε απαντήσεις στο ίδιο του το είναι.
Με τον πιο μετριοπαθή Seth Meyers στην παρουσίαση, οι φετινές Χρυσές Σφαίρες δεν είχαν πολλά φρου φρου όπως πέρσι με τον Fallon. Είχαν τον κλασσικό μονόλογο στην αρχή που περιελάμβανε ως επί το πλείστον αιχμές και δηκτικότητα για τον Weinstein και τον Spacey, αλλά από κει και πέρα ήταν λόγια βγαλμένα από γυναίκες για τις γυναίκες. Η παντοκρατορία των σειρών Big Little Lies και Handmaid’s Tale, που έχουν ένα περιεχόμενο καταπίεσης των γυναικών και βίας προς αυτές, ενίσχυσε στον μέγιστο δυνατό βαθμό το πνεύμα γυναικείας αλληλεγγύης που κατέκλυσε το Λος Άντζελες. Μια αλληλεγγύη που άγγιξε και τους άρρενες της βραδιάς. Στις σειρές, η νίκη της Rachel Brosnahan καθώς και της σειράς Marvelous Mrs. Maisel όπου πρωταγωνιστεί, ολοκλήρωσαν με μια μίνι έκπληξη την κυριαρχία και σε επίπεδο βραβεύσεων των γυναικών.
Ως προς τις ταινίες, οι Χρυσές Σφαίρες άπλωσαν το χαλί τους για τα Όσκαρ και τη μεγάλη μάχη που θα ακολουθήσει. Δεδομένου ότι οι ξεχωριστές κατηγορίες της κωμωδίας/μιούζικαλ και του δράματος θα ενωθούν, τα χθεσινά αποτελέσματα μαρτυρούν έναν ανταγωνισμό που έχουμε να δούμε πολλά χρόνια. Το Lady Bird και το Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri κυριάρχησαν στα βραβεία των ηθοποιών. Ιδίως η Saoirse Ronan και το δίδυμο McDormand-Rockwell πιστοποίησαν αυτό που περιμέναμε. Οι δύο κυρίες θα κονταροχτυπηθούν στα Όσκαρ. Το Shape of Water χάρισε την επιβράβευση που περίμενε 25 χρόνια ο Guillermo del Toro και συνέχισε την ανίκητη διάβαση του Alexandre Desplat, ο οποίος όποτε συμμετέχει με τη μουσική του κερδίζει.
